Dual HDMI monitors not being recognized

  • Hello,

I recently purchased the MOUC0517 to connect two external monitors. Each monitor is connected to the hub via an HDMI cable.
The other ports on the hub, aside from HDMI and DisplayPort (USB, Ethernet), work perfectly on my computer. I tested the hub on a newer computer, and all video ports on the hub worked flawlessly. I also compared the two computers, and I noticed that in "Devices and Printers", the hub (USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)) appears under "Unspecified" on my computer instead of being listed under "Devices."

Why is the hub not recognized for video when I connect it to my laptop, an ASUS ROG GL702VMK?

    What I’ve tried:

    • Updating Windows and drivers via ASUS.
    • Using a DisplayPort cable between the external monitor and the hub.
    • Connecting the monitor directly to the laptop (works perfectly).
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
    • Verifying the compatibility of the USB-C port (Thunderbolt 3).

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Hi Adrien Harnenzy,

We have checked for you that this product is compatible with your ASUS ROG GL702VMK, it supports video output.

In order to better solve your problem, please assist us with the following information:
    1. Would you mind to send us the detailed model of your monitor?
    2. Could you open the display settings of the laptop to check whether the laptop recognizes the display, and please provide us with relevant pictures.
    3. Could you provide us with the overall connection diagram of the laptop, monitor and hub;
    4. Are you using a HDMI-HDMI or DP-DP cable with the same two ends to connect, and you cannot use a HDMI-DP cable with inconsistent ends.

    Looking forward your reply!
    Best regards

  • Hi MOKiN,
    1. My model of my monitor is AOC gaming monitors (Q32G2WG3).
    2. The laptop's display settings look like this when I connect the monitor directly to my laptop:

    3. Regarding the overall connection setup of the laptop, there are two external monitors connected to the hub using HDMI cables. This hub is then connected via USB-C to the Thunderbolt 3 port of my laptop.
    4. I only use cables with the same connectors on both ends, in my current case HDMI-HDMI.

Update: I tested with a USB-C to HDMI cable connected directly to my monitor. In this case, the monitor does not receive any video signal. The problem is indeed with the Thunderbolt 3 port, despite installing drivers and update management tools from the vendor:

    • Intel Driver & Support Assistant
    • Asus Live Update
    • Vendor Drivers: Chipset and Thunderbolt

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

  • Hi @Adrien Harnenzy,

Thanks for the information you provide.

Please try to upgrade the program to solve the problem you meet.

    Download the program: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UXjJJGR2jOrf3vABLK3Q7qf4hmnUxWbg/view?usp=sharing

Begin by completing the program upgrade on the newer computer. Once completed, use the hub on the old computer.

If the ASUS ROG GL702VMK still fails to detect the external monitor in its display settings. In this case,we recommend you go to the after-sales service of the ASUS computer to check whether the port functions normally.

    Best regards
